Red Velvet Donuts with Vanilla Icing

Super moist baked red velvet donuts topped with vanilla icing. Make these fabulous donuts for breakfast or afternoon tea.

Vanilla Icing


Donut Pan 12 cavity

Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 180C. Prepare donut pans by glazing vegetable oil to each cavity. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.

3. In medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, vinegar and gel color. Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture, mixing just until incorporated. Divide batter evenly into prepared pan. 4. Bake 7-8 mins or until donuts spring back when lightly touched. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then remove to cooling grid to cool completely. 5. For vanilla icing, combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir till sugar dissolves. Drizzle icing onto donuts, or dip top of donuts into icing to coat. If the icing starts to harden, add more hot water.
